Welder

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding on shipboard hydraulic, pneumatic, and water systems

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical work documents

• Set up and operate welding equipment and hand tools

• Select proper materials, fillers, joint designs, and heat ranges

• Fabricate and install fixtures and jigs for proper weld alignment

• Work independently and mentor junior welders

• Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in shop and confined-space environments

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with welding apprenticeship, technical school, military, or shipyard experience

• Ability to obtain government base access and security clearance

• Welding certifications and knowledge/practical skills testing required

• U.S. citizenship required

Work Environment

• Indoor shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, fumes, and moving equipment

• Requires lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined or overhead spaces

• Travel and overtime may be required
